Acting as the Maid or Matron of Honor is a job that comes with a heck of a lot of responsibilities. Not only do you have to wrangle the bridesmaids, plan the bachelorette party and bridal shower, and stay on top of everything on the big day, you also have to act as the bride’s emotional rock. Let’s break down the duties in detail, shall we?
- Bridesmaid “Leader”: You’re the leader of the pack! Direct the other ‘maids concerning their duties and ensure everyone gets their dresses, go to fittings, find the right jewelry, and so on. Act as the planner for the bachelorette party and bridal shower, and assign tasks to each bridesmaid as needed.
- Dresses: Help the bride and the bridesmaid shop for dresses; go with the bride to fittings. You may need to learn how to bustle her dress among other things.
- Pre-Wedding Tasks: Offer the bride your services concerning pre-wedding tasks, including choosing wedding colors, mailing invitations, helping with food planning, and more.
- Registry: Let everyone know where the bride and groom are registered.
- Clothing Changes: Help the bride out of her dress and into her honeymoon clothes, and don’t forget to remain in charge of the dress once the wedding is over. Arrange for storage while the bride enjoys her honeymoon.
- Support: Lend the bride a supportive ear, whether it’s about annoying relatives, venue and catering problems, registry concerns or the marriage in general. Give her what she needs in terms of emotional support, no matter how much she talks about it.
