Summer is beginning to fade, leaving us stock with 3 long and windy months of winter. We hate this change in timetables, especially because our whole make up kit goes through serious-dramatic change….However, there is a question that permanently arises: Liquid or powder? Tough one ladies!
In general powder foundation is more for oily skin types which need to be left matte throughout the day. We don’t recommend it for combination skin since it will only increase oil production.
Liquid foundation suits a variety of skin types depending on formulation – it can be water or silicone based, and some contain oils which isn’t a good idea for oily skin. It’s the most versatile among the three most common formulations (excluding spray foundations which is liquid anyways).

Cream foundations also suit a variety of skin types, again depending on the base and formation. It may be less suitable for oilier skin types, but generally provides more coverage. Some liquid foundations tend more towards the creamy side. Cream would be the easiest to manipulate for full coverage, and may double as a concealer when you run out. But not recommended. It’s usually applied with a sponge or fingers, as opposed to liquid which can also be applied with a foundation brush for sheerer coverage. If you’re not looking for coverage a tinted moisturizer would be a better choice.
We like powder because our skin tends to look greasy with liquid foundations. Also you can use various creams for pigmentation and eczema problems and powder can be applied fine after my moisturizer and these creams. Liquid foundations tend to take off the creams and give little collections of product – if that make sense. It’s better to use powder foundation in winter and liquid in summer. A liquid one is great for summer as it’s lighter, and doesn’t melt on the face that much.
With the powder foundation you’re not going to encounter so many problems, but there are certain skin surfaces that can’t stand it….
Powder foundations are a less popular preference, but can work precisely as well as liquid foundation make up. Liquid-powder foundation combinations are a new selection that is gaining in recognition. The foundation make up comes in a compact, a lot like powder bases, but contains a somewhat creamy mixture. This combination is not the best for people with dry skin as it will also give you a patchy skin appearance. Choose this type of product if you have normal to oily skin.
Remember, the best make up techniques begin with a good foundation that is appropriate for your skin type and skin tone.
