Your first consideration when arranging the perfect hen or stag weekend is the location. With friendship groups often spread across the 4 corners of the UK, choosing a destination that is as central as possible for all parties should be one of your primary concerns.
Each city has its virtues, so you need to decide what the important factors are for your perfect weekend send-off. Are you looking for…
– A relaxing weekend?
– A party weekend?
– A cultural weekend?
Let’s take a look at those three options and see if we can’t find a suitable candidate or 2 for each.
Relaxing weekends
With working weeks growing ever-longer, perhaps a weekend of rest and recuperation will be just the trick for your hen or stag weekend. Whilst it would be terribly 21st century for the lads to hit the spa and leisure suite of a local hotel for their stag weekends, we’ll concede at this point that it’s pretty unlikely, so ladies I’m talking to you here when I say that Bath hen weekends are perfect for that all-important R&R. With its natural thermal baths, the city is a beautiful location with some of the country’s best restaurants and ornate wine bars on every corner. Of course, the nation’s capital, London is similarly awash with excellent leisure facilities to leave you feeling box-fresh ahead of the wedding. A bottle of champagne and a punnet of strawberries are essential take-alongs to really add that special feeling to your hen weekend of heavenly relaxation.
Party weekends
Well, well, well, this is what hen and stag weekends are most synonymous with, but just because you’re probably going to end the night looking like you’ve been dragged through a hedge doesn’t mean you should start it in consummate style. In our experience, the Northern party capitals are difficult to overlook in this category with Liverpool and Newcastle stag weekends particularly brutal with their densely-packed nightlife and up-for-it atmospheres. Looking south, Brighton is wonderful for both stag and hen weekends with its anything-goes ethos, the bars and clubs of West Street turn into a Daily Mail reader’s worst nightmare on a Saturday night as they’re swarming with stag and hen groups that mix famously well every weekend. North of the border, Glasgow is similarly stag/hen-friendly and has the whole spectrum covered, from sticky-floored, black-walled fun dive bars to up-market bars and clubs that it pays to be suited and booted (or be-frocked).
Cultural weekends
For the culture vultures – normally suiting the smaller hen or stag groups – are more sight-seeing based trips, often to Eastern or Western Europe. More a holiday break than a bonafide stag or hen weekend, these trips can combine the above 2 genres to create something truly memorable. Barcelona hen weekends are among our most popular for enquiries as groups look to sample the Gaudi architecture the city is famous for, as well as the hustle and bustle of Las Ramblas, the lengthy market street that is the spine of this Catalan hen/stag giant. Other popular destinations include Riga, Krakow, Budapest and Madrid.
So there you have it, some excellent options for destinations suitable for hen or stag weekends of all types, across all budgets. Who says you can’t please everyone?
