Navy, white, clean lines, stripes — when it comes to wedding themes, we are crazy about nautical. Preppy, classic and modern at the same time, nautical-filled nuptials inherently have that cool factor. However, here’s a little piece of advice: don’t opt for a nautical theme unless 1) The event is by the water; 2) You have a passion for boats, water sports, etc.; 3) Your love story somehow involves something boat/water related. For example, opting for nautical decor in a barn venue would be a major no-no. Holding it at a yacht club? Much more fitting.
Try suiting your groomsmen up in boat shoes, tying rope around your napkins, serving fresh seafood, gifting salt water taffy or entering your wedding reception by boat (a major “wow” factor”) — all fun ideas. Just make sure there are plenty of navy and white stripes to go around to bring your nautical theme to life.
