Eastern Europe remains a favourite destination for stag weekends abroad, however during the winter months its popularity can drop as stags and tourists alike go in search of warmer climates. As the temperature declines though so do the prices, and with airlines and hotels dropping their prices during the off-season it’s the perfect opportunity to capitalise on a cheap weekend away where you can indulge in activities which are only available at this time of year.
If your group are sports fanatics then you’re spoilt for choice, with wintry activities ranging from skiing and bobsledding, to ice fishing and skating. Just head to Krakow, Riga or Prague which are undoubtedly some of the most popular cities in Eastern Europe where you can indulge in some of this snowy fun.
Krakow
Your inner child will naturally point you in the direction of a snow ball fight, however if you are after something a bit different you should get involved in the brand new activity of snow tubing. It’s very similar to the water version where you get dragged behind a speed boat on rubber rings – the only difference being this one is on snow and you are being pulled by a snowmobile, guaranteed to result in hilarious consequences and make for a great stag weekend in Krakow.
Riga
Whilst on a stag do in Riga, if you fancy yourself as a bit of a maverick then become the Steve McQueen of the snow as you travel at speed on an exhilarating snowmobile adventure, an unmissable opportunity. For a more peaceful activity though, a husky sled ride is an essential experience and the best way to explore the beautifully snow covered countryside.
Prague
Just outside of Prague you can head to the mountains for some skiing action. Not to worry if it’s your first time though, friendly instructors are on hand to help get you started, and at the end of the day you can all have a good laugh about your “acrobatics” in one of Prague’s many lively (and warm) bars. The locals, as any Brit who has travelled to Prague will tell you, know how to enjoy themselves, so with cheap beer and great company this is the ideal way to celebrate a successful day on the slopes.
So, if you find yourself having doubts about heading to Eastern Europe in the winter months with the guys, think again as the region has so much to offer for sports enthusiasts!
