We are having a 5:30pm wedding and are unsure of the proper wording of the time of day to print on the wedding invitation:

“Half after five o’clock in the evening or afternoon”

At what time of day does afternoon end and evening begin?

When printing the time of day on the wedding invitation you would not have to mention afternoon or evening. You ill simply print half after five o’clock.

The bride would like to include “in the evening” on the invitations because she likes how it sounds. Is 5:30pm considered evening?

The Wedding Queen is correct that it really isn’t necessary to write evening. It is self explanatory. No one would invite guests to a wedding at 5:30 in the morning. However, if you must, it is considered evening.
