I need some help wording invitations for a shower that I will be having for my Daughter-n-law. My son and daughter-n-law were married 8 months ago before my son was deployed.
She has not had her shower or their reception yet. The wedding was just immediate family because it was so last min. We want her to have her special day but I just don’t know how to word the shower invites. Please help

Dear Mom –
Unfortunately, showers are given before the wedding and should only be hosted by non-family members due to the shower being a gift giving event. So, I can’t really offer any advice for wording this type of invitation. I’m sorry.
We thank you and your family for their sacrifices for our freedom.

Congratulations to you and your daughter! As Donna mentioned, showers should not be hosted by immediate relatives. Instead focus on the reception. I am sure friends and family will be generous.

Focusing on the celebration is great advice. Note that reception guests aren’t expected to send gifts, though most don’t seem to know this or they just send a gift anyway because they want to send one.
