Cover Psoriasis Marks: Wearing Sleeveless Dress For Vow Renewal
Hi There, can you tell me if there is a cosmetic product that can be used to cover up psoriasis marks. I have only had this condition for a year, but already it has spread from my elbows, up the backs of my arms and across my shoulders. Obviously my legs will be covered, but if we go ahead with our vow renewal then it would be nice to be able to wear short sleeves or an evening dress with straps.
Many thanks

I’m no beauty expert, but since I have skin conditions myself, I wanted to chime in.
For a new condition like psoriasis, I’d ask the dermatologist to recommend skin care, especially if you have any open sores or sever irritation. They ususally give you a green tinted mositurizer like dermablend (that’s what my doc recommends for rosacea) which dulls the redness and hydrates the skin. I use Dove soap to clean my skin. It’s really gentle and moisturizing and approved by my dermatologist. I also use Apple Cider Vinegar diluted when my skin gets bad. There are lots of homeopathic remedies you can find online. Again, speak to your doctor before trying anything new.
I’ll leave it to the beauty experts to give you a makeup brand suggestion, though. B)
Whatever you decide to use, don’t wait until the day or week before your vow renewal ceremony to try it. Make sure the products work and don’t cause additional irritation well before your ceremony. This might be a good time to treat yourself to a professional facial and services by a professional makeup artist who can offer you some personalized attention and color suggestions.

Excellent advice on skin care with special condition from the Wedding Queen! For cover-up on the areas of your body, I recommend to get professional Airbrush makeup application (silicone-based). That’s the only way to cover-up these troublesome areas without any risk of makeup coverage going off or staining your clothing. It will stay put all day! Enjoy the wedding!

There are three steps in covering psoriasis:
The first is to smooth out uneven skin and create a canvass for camouflage makeup (which will hide the marks). Use either a moisturizer or a silicone-based primer. If using a moisturizer, make sure it is water-based and specifically for sensitive skin. Do NOT use a very heavy or rich moisturizer as these will not allow the covering makeup to set and it will rub off.
The second step is to apply a camouflage-type makeup. There are many brands with many different consistencies. Camouflage makeup is much denser and longer lasting than traditional coverage cosmetics. A popular brand is Dermablend . This type makeup will cover scars, tattoos, etc., and still look natural.
The final step is to set the area that was covered. Most camouflage makeup will come with a setting powder, which will lock out the elements and keep the coverage intact. If you do not have a setting powder-using a large powder brush, loosely pat the area with baby powder and pat with a tissue.

Does this go for rosacea too?

Although the process of masquing rosecea is the same as covering psoriasis, one must be very careful with products. Rosecea is highly reactive to many products. Mild rosecea is usually manageable with products that are safe-for-sensitive skins. Do not use anything containing glycolic acid or citrus acid or vitamin A. Ideally, one should ask their Dermatologist to recommend the safest products to cover rosecea.

Great tips ladies. For Psoriasis and Rosacea I would use the less is more rule. Too much of anything can make both of these skin conditions irritated. Whichever cosmetics you opt for make sure you have a patch test beforehand so that you don’t get a reaction on the day of the wedding.
