In the middle of hosting the Academy Awards, Ellen DeGeneres sent the most retweeted tweet ever. It also created such a traffic surge that it knocked out Twitter service, though only for a few minutes. The previous most-retweeted post was from President Obama. Clearly, all it takes to beat out Obama on Twitter is the celebrity powers of Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pitt, and more combined. (Let’s call it Captain Planet Hollywood.)

The tweet served as a bit of product placement for Samsung, the manufacturer of the phone that DeGeneres used to take a “selfie” with Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Kevin Spacey, Brad Pitt and other Oscar attendees.
It got us here at Team Wedding thinking about the potential of a selfie at your wedding. Selfies are the new cool thing to do, from Astronauts to teenage girls, taking a selfie is a vey hip. So why not take a selfie that matters. Go around your wedding and take a selfie with your closest friends and tweet it. If it is good enough for Ellen at the Oscars, it should be good enough for you on your special day.
