Who needs a passport when you can stay locally and have an awesome destination wedding. There are so many fun and cool places to have a wedding that you will be surprised by just how much choice there is.
Perfect California
In Napa Valley, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe and the rest of Northern California there are literally hundreds of places to have a picturesque and memorable wedding. In San Francisco we would recommend checking out old hotels like the Omni Hotel, Hotel Majestic and the Sir Francis Drake. If you’re looking for something more more peaceful and with an amazing view, then head to Lake Tahoe for alpine lakes and waterfalls. We have heard of couples getting married in a hot air balloon at Lake Tahoe, that sure spices up the start of a marriage. If you and your guests love great wine, then having your wedding at a Napa Valley (or surrounding area) winery is the way to go. Do your research ahead of time because not all wineries allow wedding parties.
Beach, Sand and Surf in Florida
There are lots of amazing beaches in the U.S, but everybody knows that Florida is your best bet. It is the perfect replacement for the Caribbean and Mexico beach charm and likely to have much better prices and easier for your guests to travel to. Each destination in Florida is unique so make sure you take that into account. Miami is the place to go for that chic, cuban flare of a wedding. Palm Beach is more traditional and up-market. Then you have the Keys for an island atmosphere and perhaps a boat dinner cruise for the reception.
Some Hipster Love in the City
Screw Florida and California, we’re hipsters and we’re getting married the right way you say. Everybody we know is getting their reception catered by the top Korean food truck so why not go all out and have a destination wedding in a Hipster city? Our favorites include in Portland, Oregon, Austin, Texas or Brooklyn, New York — plenty of outdoor spaces, amazing venues and food, and plenty of cocktail variety to keep guests happy for hours. Don’t forget if you’re going hipster for your wedding, it is also a great idea to ditch all tradition, forget the dress, no wedding music and definitely take photos on Instagram to remember it forever.
Keep your destination wedding domestic and charm your guests at these locales. You won’t even have to travel far for your honeymoon, as well.
